Disability and DIY

DIY has long been an empowering hobby for the disabled community. However, we are frequently left out of the conversation, and the art world is not an exception.

It's a practice that prioritizes ethics and sustainability over fast fashion, and in that way, I would argue DIY is inherently anticapitalist.

For me, DIY is more than just a hobby that keeps me busy when bedbound. It is an expression of my interests, and a refusal to conform with traditional disability narratives.
